Marcel Breuer

Marcel Breuer was a pivotal figure in modern design, whose influence endures to this day. Originally from Hungary, Breuer became one of the pillars of the Bauhaus movement and modernism.

After an education in Paris, Breuer returned to the Bauhaus, the famous German school of art and design, as a lecturer. During his stay, he distinguished himself by introducing significant innovations in furniture design. It was under his guidance, in fact, that in 1926 the Bauhaus began to produce furniture characterised by tubular steel structures. Breuer experimented with various materials and shapes, producing iconic chairs such as the Wassily chair.
