Maggiolina armchair

Designer

Maggiolina is the iconic Zanotta armchair, created by designer Marco Zanuso in 1947. The armchair came to light during a competition organised by the MoMA in New York. The designer started with the idea of a small, affordable, and detachable armchair.

Thus was born the product, characterised by a curved tubular steel frame, which holds a cloth bag with pockets housing two plywood panels, whose role is to support the backrest and seat cushions.

Using this structure, the designer leaves behind the traditional concept of the armchair and takes up a structure with perfect features for series industrial production.

DESCRIPTION

Features

The structure of the Maggiolina armchair is in 18/8 stainless steel, available in three finishes: polished, nickel-satin natural or black, or black painted. The shell is made of pigmented leather 90, a resistant and lasting material guaranteeing high durability.

Comfort is provided by the goose-down padding of the back cushion and the combination of polyurethane and Dacron Du Pont for the seat cushion. The outer covering is removable and available in fabric, Ecofire or leather, to match customers’ needs and tastes.

In the version with cushions upholstered in fabric, the armrests are in leather to match the colour of the pigmented leather shell, while in the version with cushions in leather or Ecofire the armrests have the same cover. This detail gives the armchair an extra touch of elegance, making it a unique and distinctive piece.
